Abet

Abet verb - To provide (someone) with what is useful or necessary to achieve an end.
Usage example: car thieves are often unwittingly abetted by owners foolishly leaving the keys in the ignition

Backstop and abet are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Backstop" instead a verb "Abet".
