Absorbent material and Sorbent

Absorbent material noun - A material having capacity or tendency to absorb another substance.

Sorbent and absorbent material are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Sorbent" instead a noun phrase "Absorbent material".

Sorbent noun - A material that sorbs another substance; i.e. that has the capacity or tendency to take it up by either absorption or adsorption.
