Alternate

Alternate noun - Someone who takes the place of another person.

Representative and alternate are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Representative" instead the word "Alternate" as a noun or an adjective.

Usage example: a representative from the car dealership called to ask how we were enjoying the new car

  • There are far too many of these to list in American Gothic, but one of the earliest and most representative is Carter's deal with Buck in the episode "Damned If You Don't" (which could almost be an alternate title for this trope).
  • Series / Orphan Black It is, of course, possible that due to the show's Alternate Timeline, the legal system in the show is not intended to be representative of the real-world legal system.
