Amend verb - To remove errors, defects, deficiencies, or deviations from.
Usage example: the Bill of Rights was adopted in an effort to amend a constitution that seemed to many to be deficient in guaranteeing individual rights

Debug and amend are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Debug" instead a verb "Amend".
