Applause noun - Enthusiastic and usually public expression of approval.
Usage example: a design for a memorial for the victims of the attack that has received nothing but applause from officials, commentators, and the general public
Hiss
Hiss noun - A vocal sound made to express scorn or disapproval.
Usage example: there was a chorus of boos and hisses from the fans when the umpire called the runner out
