A roller coaster based off of Apollo13 was in development (yes, really) as a replacement for Kongfrontation, but axed after The Mummy was released in 1999 to great success, making Universal see the latter as a much stronger franchise to make a thrill ride out of, resulting in Revenge of the Mummy.
