Brock's Onix in particular could be taken out easily by those who started with Bulbasaur or Squirtle, and even a Charmander trainer could take it out while being cautious not to attack while Onix was using Bide.

A careful trainer can take advantage of his Mons' lack of actual Rock-type moves and poor Special stat by using Charmander's Ember, though you must be careful not to damage Onix while it is using Bide.
