- Considering the illogical flaws and the fact that you can't use it to escape from fights, because it takes to much time to burrow into the ground and you're defenseless while trying, it is not a surprise that Tunneling is the 'Heart' amongst the travel powers.

Sand Worm: The gigantic were-worms, mentioned very briefly by Bilbo in the novel, make an appearance in the final chapter of trilogy, and are used by Azog's forces to burrow huge tunnels through which his forces can travel in order to surprise-attack Erebor.
- They burrow and slowly travel underground leaving upset soil on the surface, at the very least diverting the attention of enemy terraformers to repair the "zero layer." They also can dive under the active barrier and transform into tanks once inside.
