Cherry-pick verb - To decide to accept (someone or something) from a group of possibilities.
Usage example: cherry-picked the spacious corner office for his corporate fief
Elect and cherry-pick are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Elect" instead a verb phrase "Cherry-pick".
