Complacent adjective - Having too high an opinion of oneself.
Usage example: a complacent junior exec who was certain of his indispensability to the company

Self-asserting and complacent are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Self-asserting" instead an adjective "Complacent".

Usage example: a bunch of self-asserting upstarts who thought that they could buy their way into high society
