Condition verb - To bring to a proper or desired state of fitness.

Set up and condition are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Set up" instead a verb "Condition".

  • In Rebecca Lickiss's Eccentric Circles, at the will reading, Piper learns she was set up to meet the condition to get the house.
  • Betty and Veronica In The Little Soldier (in Andrew Lang's The Green Fairy Book), the soldier rescues a princess, but is not awake when she comes to fetch him away, a condition she set up so she would not have to marry him.
  • To top it off, Astrid, who set up the attack on the Brotherhood is found dying and tells you that she just wanted to protect the Brotherhood (it was the condition), performs the Black Sacrament with her as the target, gives you her dagger, and asks for death.
