Constrict

Constrict verb - To become smaller in size or volume through the drawing together of particles of matter.

Elide and constrict are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Elide" instead a verb "Constrict".

Elide verb - To make less in extent or duration.
Usage example: the product presentation was not elided—it's always only 15 minutes long
