Constrict

Constrict verb - To become smaller in size or volume through the drawing together of particles of matter.

Shut-in and constrict are semantically related. In some cases you can replace phrase "Shut-in" with "Constrict", this terms are similar.

Shut-in

Shut-in noun - Someone who is incapacitated by a chronic illness or injury.

Constrict and shut-in are semantically related. Sometimes you can use "Constrict" instead a verb phrase "Shut-in".
