Counterargument

Counterargument noun - An argument offered in opposition to another argument.

Disconfirmation and counterargument are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Disconfirmation" instead a noun "Counterargument".

Usage example: members of the sect refused to accept the scientific evidence as being in any way a disconfirmation of their deeply held religious beliefs
