Derive
Derive verb - To form an opinion or reach a conclusion through reasoning and information.
Usage example: from the summit, he was able to derive his location from the position of several prominent landmarks
Interpret and derive are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Interpret" instead a verb "Derive".
