Earned run average

Earned run average noun - (baseball) a measure of a pitcher's effectiveness; calculated as the average number of earned runs allowed by the pitcher for every nine innings pitched.

Standard and earned run average are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Standard" instead a noun phrase "Earned run average".

Standard noun - Something set up as an example against which others of the same type are compared.

Earned run average and standard are semantically related. Sometimes you can replace phrase "Earned run average" with "Standard", this terms are similar.
