Exchange verb - To give up (something) and take something else in return.

Horse-trade and exchange are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Horse-trade" instead a verb "Exchange".

Horse-trade verb - To talk over or dispute the terms of a purchase.
Usage example: I horse-traded with the painter: I did his tax returns, and he did my kitchen
