Eye verb - To keep one's eyes on.
Usage example: a lot of his backyard bird watching was spent eyeing the squirrels as they depleted the bird feeder of seeds
Espy
Espy verb - To make note of (something) through the use of one's eyes.
Usage example: out of the corner of my eye I espied the squirrel making another raid on the bird feeder
