Hand over verb - To put (something) into the possession or safekeeping of another.
Usage example: handed over their valuables to the desk clerk, who put them in the hotel safe
Receive
Receive verb - To offer entrance (as to a place, school, or privilege) to.
Both terms in one sentence
- At the first sign, they hand over their affairs to their children and prepare to receive the Gift of Eru (which lesser men call Death)—or at least, they were supposed to do that.
