It got really egregious during the height of the Disney Renaissance period, when films like Hercules and Tarzan would have two or more timeskips within the expanse of a 3-minute song.
- To add insult to injury, most of the Disney films criticized for following their formula (The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan) have been Vindicated by History by 90s kids, and the experimental films often became Cult Classics.

The Hydra in Hercules still looks pretty CG despite advanced cel shading simulation techniques being applied, and many of the moving objects designed to look like background elements in Tarzan are clearly 3D.
