Hide
Hide verb - To remain out of sight.
Usage example: he hid in the closet while his roommate lied to the probation officer
Turn up
Turn up verb - To come into view.
Both terms in one sentence
- And sometimes overbearing "looking after one another" (people tend to hide coughs lest, for example, Lady Crispin should turn up with a hamper and a thermos of beef-tea, or, worse, the Duke descend on them with more assistance than they want).
