Irritate verb - To disturb the peace of mind of (someone) especially by repeated disagreeable acts.
Usage example: constant chatter irritated the student, who was trying to concentrate on a hard assignment
Mollify
Mollify verb - To lessen the anger or agitation of.
Usage example: an apology would probably mollify your friend
