Send up verb - To copy or exaggerate (someone or something) in order to make fun of.

- In the third act, the original Knock story is given a send up when the Doctor finds a time-traveller at the very end of the universe and questions why the traveller's ship is locked, and the time traveller replies that there's something out there that knocks at night.
