Metronymic and Patronym

Metronymic noun - A name derived from the name of your mother or a maternal ancestor.

Patronym and metronymic are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Patronym" instead a noun "Metronymic".

Patronym noun - A family name derived from name of your father or a paternal ancestor (especially with an affix (such as -son in English or O'- in Irish) added to the name of your father or a paternal ancestor).
