Obdurateness

Obdurateness noun - A steadfast adherence to an opinion, purpose, or course of action in spite of reason, arguments, or persuasion.
Usage example: the man clung to his views on gun control with an obdurateness that was peculiarly impressive

Rigor and obdurateness are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Rigor" instead a noun "Obdurateness".

Rigor noun - The quality or state of being demanding or unyielding (as in discipline or criticism).
Usage example: after being coddled by his former coach, the swimmer was shocked by the rigor of the new training program
