Out-of-the-way adjective - Noticeably different from what is generally found or experienced.
Usage example: there was nothing out-of-the-way about the hitchhiker's appearance that might arouse suspicion

Special and out-of-the-way are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Special" instead an adjective phrase "Out-of-the-way".
