Prophesy verb - To tell of or describe beforehand.
Usage example: holy men were prophesying the coming of a new messiah

Warn and prophesy are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Warn" instead a verb "Prophesy".

Warn

Warn verb - To give notice to beforehand especially of danger or risk.
Usage example: the lifeguard warned the boys that if they continued playing so rough, someone was sure to get hurt
