Remit verb - To dismiss as of little importance.
Usage example: the judge refused to remit the young man's cavalier disregard for his pile of unpaid speeding tickets and summarily revoked his driver's license

Vindicate and remit are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Vindicate" instead a verb "Remit".

Vindicate verb - To free from a charge of wrongdoing.
Usage example: vowed that the evidence would completely vindicate him
