Subordination noun - A bending to the authority or control of another.
Usage example: an oligarchy requires subordination by the masses to the will of a tiny elite

Self-will is an antonym for subordination.

Self-will noun - A steadfast adherence to an opinion, purpose, or course of action in spite of reason, arguments, or persuasion.
Usage example: a schoolboy with a streak of self-will and rebellion
