Surmise verb - To form an opinion from little or no evidence.
Usage example: we surmised that she had purchased the apple pie since there was a bakery box on the kitchen counter
Validate
Validate verb - To show the existence or truth of by evidence.
Usage example: the booming economy in and of itself validated the soundness of the government's economic policies
