Qualified adjective - Having the required skills for an acceptable level of performance.
Usage example: the candidate has demonstrated that he is amply qualified for the position

Skillful and qualified are semantically related. In some cases you can use "Skillful" instead an adjective "Qualified".

Skillful

Skillful adjective - Having or showing exceptional knowledge, experience, or skill in a field of endeavor.
Usage example: performance testing of automobiles that should be done only by skillful drivers on a closed course
